RIKEN – McGill workshop 2025
About the Program
Since 2016, RIKEN IMS and the McGill University Faculty of Medicine have built a close collaborative relationship to advance research in the areas of genomics, immunology, and cancer across a wide range of diseases. Beginning with the first workshop, which was held in May 2017 at McGill University in Montreal, we have alternated hosting annual workshops in either Montreal or Yokohama, Japan. These past workshops have covered research areas including genome biology, human genome medicine, immunology and infectious disease, and cancers. The 7th RIKEN – McGill workshop took place on July 7-8, 2025 in Montreal. T The program featured scientific sessions and networking opportunities, followed by tours of the McGill Genome Centre and the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC). The IMS director and researchers were inspired by the well-organized platforms supporting both basic and translation research at RI-MUHC. During the workshop, junior researchers hosted a Japanese SAKE tasing event with several bottle they brought from Yokohama. We enjoyed the in-person discussion and reconfirmed the value of holding workshops on site. We plan to organize the 8th RIKEN - McGill workshop in Yokohama, Japan in October 2026.
