About the Program

The M3 University of Tübingen–RIKEN IMS Joint Symposium was held on November 3–4, 2025, at the M3 Research Center in Tübingen, Germany. The M3 Research Center and RIKEN IMS share common research focuses—Malignome (tumor), Microbiome, and Metabolome—with the shared goal of applying basic research findings to human precision medicine.

To promote ongoing collaborative projects and discuss future strategies, seven IMS PIs, four young postdocs and graduate students, and three research administrators (including the Director of the RIKEN Europe Office) attended the symposium.

During the event, there were 28 presentations, a state-of-the-art facility tour at the M3 Research Center, and intensive one-on-one discussions that followed.

At the conclusion of the symposium, Professors Nisar Malek and Masayuki Amagai emphasized the success of the exchange of young researchers under this institutional collaboration, the importance of in-person discussions, and the need to further develop strategies to elevate the scientific synergy to an even higher level.

The next symposium will be held at RIKEN IMS in Yokohama in 2026.
