This project, as a component of the Advanced Multi-omics Technology Division of IMS, aims to provide the cutting-edge techniques of spatial omics.

In the first year of this project, the spatial transcriptomics instrument MERSCOPE was installed, and protocols for MERSCOPE analysis of tissues such as skin and lung were optimized. Services using MERSCOPE is planned to begin in the fiscal year 2026. This project also plans to introduce multiple in-house spatial transcriptomics technologies developed within IMS and also through collaborations with other institutions. For the correlative analysis with spatial lipidomics, metabolomics, and proteomics, collaborations within the Advanced Multi-omics Technology Division will be facilitated by this project.
