The Data Informatics Collaborative Project aims to operate as a vital component of the Multi-omics Platform. Our primary mission is to generate novel biological insights and unprecedented scientific value through seamless collaboration and data integration across diverse omics disciplines. By synergizing comprehensive data from genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and cutting-edge spatial transcriptomics, we aim to build a robust computational foundation. Our project serves as a central hub for data-driven innovation, empowering researchers to navigate, integrate, and interpret complex biological datasets to advance integrative medical sciences.
Our activities are focused on optimizing analytical workflows and democratizing access to large-scale data resources. To streamline the deployment of complex bioinformatics software and alleviate technical bottlenecks across the institute, we utilize cloud-based build environments to actively create and distribute Singularity Image Format (SIF) files. Furthermore, we have successfully spearheaded an IMS-wide application for access to the UK Biobank. Beyond merely securing institutional access, our team provides crucial, hands-on support for data utilization and analytical execution, ensuring that RIKEN IMS investigators can fully and efficiently leverage this massive global resource for their ongoing research.
Looking toward the next fiscal year, our overarching goal is to establish a truly global omics research environment. We plan to systematically expand our data infrastructure to facilitate access to other premier human omics databases worldwide, most notably Biobank Japan, the All of Us Research Program, Genomics England and so on. By integrating these diverse, large-scale datasets into our analytical ecosystem, we will provide dedicated support for advanced, applied multi-omics analyses, ultimately accelerating transformative discoveries in human health and disease.
Operational Framework of the Data Informatics Collaborative Project: Bridging Multi-omics Integration and Global Biobank Resources
This schematic illustrates the strategic role of the Data Informatics Collaborative Project within the RIKEN IMS Multi-omics Platform. The central hub facilitates the seamless integration of diverse omics layers, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and spatial transcriptomics, to build a robust computational foundation for integrative medical sciences. To democratize high-level bioinformatics, the project provides containerized software solutions via Singularity Image Format (SIF) and manages institutional access to large-scale datasets such as the UK Biobank. Future expansions aim to incorporate global resources like Biobank Japan, the All of Us Research Program, and Genomics England, fostering an advanced analytical ecosystem that accelerates transformative discoveries in human health.
