Cellular Function Analysis Support Unit

This unit, as a component of the Advanced Multi-omics Technology Division of IMS, mainly provides the techniques of (1) flow/mass cytometry and cell sorting, and (2) microscopy.

(1)  Flow/mass cytometry and cell sorting

・Six flow cytometry analyzers, seven cell sorters, and one mass cytometry (CyTOF) analyzer (Table 1) are kept ready for a 24-hour operation through regular maintenance.

・Training courses (in Japanese and English) are held for new users of each instrument model.

・Operation services are available for users to request cell sorting experiments performed by experienced operators.

(2)  Microscopy

・Two confocal microscopes, one two-photon microscope, one box-type fluorescence microscope, one field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) are in operation (Table 2).

・Training courses (in Japanese and English) are held for new users of each equipment model.

・FE-SEM analysis services are available for users to request specimen preparations and image acquisition by experienced operators.
